Strășeni district (Republic of Moldova)

The official signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Maramureș County and Ștrășeni District took place on Friday, 27th September, 2019, in the conference room of the “Gheorghe Marcaș” Training and Marketing Center within the Maramureș Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Maramureș County and of a district representatives.
Strășeni district is located in the central part of the Republic of Moldova, just 23 km from the capital of the country, Chișinau.

According to the historical archives, the village of Strășeni was mentioned for the first time as a village on March 20, 1545, when Alexandru Voivode, Ruler of Moldova, confirms to the Pobrata monastery a half-estate, which the monks received as a gift.
The name of Strășeni district comes from the residence city of Strășeni placed on a hilly, wooded land, and was established in November 1940.

The Strășeni region is composed of 39 localities, including the cities of Strășeni and Bucovăţ and other 37 villages. The administrative structure has 27 mayors.

In the district, not far from the village of Scoreni, it can be found the oak tree of Ştefan cel Mare voivode, 500 years old, and the "Codru" natural reservation, founded in 1971, based on the forestry Căpriana - Lozova. The landscape of Tigăneşti is also of a rare beauty, in which the monastery of "Tigăneşti" is harmoniously inscribed.

The motto of the locals are “Life is short but the ancestral customs are eternal” and ”Through noble deeds, forgiveness and faith man will be eternal”.

The official signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Maramureș County and Ștrășeni District took place on Friday, 27th September, 2019, in the conference room of the “Gheorghe Marcaș” Training and Marketing Center within the Maramureș Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Maramureș County and of a district representatives.

The event took place on the occasion of the Exhibition “Republic of Moldova presents”, organized by the Maramureș Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the event, the President of Maramureș County Council, Gabriel Valer Zetea and Nicolae Budu - the vice-president of Strășeni District Council underlined the importance of the Agreement signed for the development of close collaboration links between Maramureș County and Strășeni District, which will materialize in economic, commercial and cultural exchanges. between the two communities.

Common activities within the twinning relation

An official delegation from Strășeni District together with the Group of carol singers "Dumbrava Verde" participated in the 11th edition of the “Christmas in Maramureș” event, which took place between 20th-22nd December 2019.

Spectators and participants in the action "Christmas in Maramureș", held at the Village Museum in Baia Mare, were delighted by the Ensemble "Dumbrava Verde", which operates at the District House of Culture in Strășeni, Moldova, for more than 30 years - and the program that included, in addition to folk songs, folk dances, carols and theatrical performances with zoomorphic masks "Horses" and "Bear".
A delegation of Maramureș County Council participated at the “Cultural Festival of Romanians Worldwide” organized in Strășeni by the “Vatra” Foundation between 14th-15th September 2019. Maramureș County was present with folk craftsmen, with a stand with traditional products, and it was also represented by the National Folk Ensemble "Transylvania", the orchestra "Fiddlers", and the Men's Choir from Finteușul Mare.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Andrei Năstase visited the stand of traditional products from Maramureș County, being warmly received with the specific Maramureș hospitality by the Vice President of Maramureș County Council, Ioan Doru Dăncuș, the director of the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art Maramureș and a delegation of Maramureș county councillors participating at this cultural festival.
The delegation of Maramureș County Council participated at the invitation of Strășeni District Council, on 27 August 2019, in the festivities of the national holiday "Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova", living moments of emotion and patriotism with Romanians in Strășeni and other guests from Hunedoara County and from Belarus, in several cultural and artistic events, organized on this occasion. The visit was a preamble to the solemn moment represented by the signing of the Collaboration Agreement between Maramureș County and Strășeni District, concluded in Baia Mare in September 2019.
An official delegation from Strășeni District together with the Codrenii Folk Ensemble participated in the 5th edition of "Maramureș Days - Come along to Maramureș", which took place between 17th-19th May 2019, thus establishing a first contact with Maramures county.
