The name of Strășeni district comes from the residence city of Strășeni placed on a hilly, wooded land, and was established in November 1940.
The Strășeni region is composed of 39 localities, including the cities of Strășeni and Bucovăţ and other 37 villages. The administrative structure has 27 mayors.
In the district, not far from the village of Scoreni, it can be found the oak tree of Ştefan cel Mare voivode, 500 years old, and the "Codru" natural reservation, founded in 1971, based on the forestry Căpriana - Lozova. The landscape of Tigăneşti is also of a rare beauty, in which the monastery of "Tigăneşti" is harmoniously inscribed.
The motto of the locals are “Life is short but the ancestral customs are eternal” and ”Through noble deeds, forgiveness and faith man will be eternal”.
